Chaco Z/Cloud 2 Review

It’s rare, if ever, that you’ll hear someone complain about the comfort of Chacos. The popular LUVSEAT footbed is made for all day comfort and it’s even podiatrist certified. Still, Chaco has managed to make their sandals even more comfortable with the new Z/Cloud collection.

The new Z/Cloud collection has the same LUVSEAT midsole we all love from Chaco but with a instant-comfort top sheet for added cushioning. It’s a subtle addition but it makes a big difference. When these shoes arrived for testing I was in the middle of battling plantar fasciitis and sore feet from running and using a standup desk at work. Anyone who has ever dealt with plantar fasciitis knows it feels like your heel is bruised and that while shoes feel better than being barefoot, just about nothing is comfortable. The extra cushioning of the Z/Cloud made a huge difference on my sensitive heel.

What else is new? The sandal uses Chaco’s non-marking ChacoGrip rubber on the bottom, but with a new tread design, said to be optimized for wet traction. The tread performed well in our testing. The adjustable webbing is the same great concept as usual, but with fun pattern designs. The sandal is available with single webbing and a toe strap (Z/Cloud 2) or with single webbing and no toe strap (Z/Cloud) for both men and women. For the ladies, Chaco also offers their double-strap system with toe strap (Z/Cloud X2) and double-strap system with no toe (Z/Cloud X).

The Z/Cloud is another great sandal by Chaco. Now that I’ve tested the Z/Cloud I realize that Chacos can in fact get more comfortable and I don’t think I could go back to the traditional style.
