Chaco Outcross 1.5 Review

There’s not much a Chaco sandal can’t handle, but those times that you need just a little more shoe, look to the Chaco Outcross 1.5. The Outcross Collection comes in multiple options, but the 1.5 is a water shoe with a full mesh upper.

When you pull the the quick cord, the speed lacing does a nice job of wrapping the shoe around your foot, preventing pebbles from getting in around your ankle. I have a skinny ankle, so there was a little room where pebbles could have gotten into the shoe, but it was never an issue for me.

The shoe has Chaco’s famous LUVSEAT PU midsole, providing all day comfort and support. It also has an instant-comfort EVA layer and Aegis treatment for odor protection. While it’s reassuring to have the Aegis treatment, having a footbed that doesn’t come out makes it much slower to dry. I loved having the full mess upper when wading in water, and the toe cap provides durability for the mesh upper, while also helping to protect toes from unforeseen rocks.

Sizing might run be a tad big—I fall between an 8.5 and 9, and the 8.5 fits perfectly. The shoe can be worn comfortably with and without socks. Lastly, the Lycra Neoprene collapsible heel helps the shoe pack down nicely, making this a great option for traveling as well.

Whether I was boating, wading or paddle boarding, having a little extra protection for for my feet was nice to have. If you spend a lot of time on the water, definitely check out the Outcross 1.5.
