Buff Merino Wool Review

It’s always nice to have diversity in the gear that you buy, and the Buff Merino Wool is a piece that I’ll be reaching for all year round. With 13 different ways to wear it, the only question I really had to answer during testing is, “Why didn’t I get one of these sooner?”

When I think of the Original Buff, I think of hot summer days spent on the water. The merino wool line expands that into all seasons, creating a cozy piece you can bring along for everything from ice climbing, to skiing, or fishing in the summer. Merino Wool can sometimes feel scratchy, and the neck is particularly sensitive, but from the get-go the Merino Wool Buff felt as soft as cotton, and it has a semi-seamless design (we would recommend removing the tag). The result is something that is truly so comfortable that I didn’t want to take it off, even at the end of the day.

Merino wool has several benefits—it insulates better, is quick drying, and is naturally odor resistant. The material on the Buff was thin enough that I would bring this along, even on hot summer days. We also tested the Merino Wool Neckwarmers, which are thicker, and really great for cold days on the slopes.

Buff has a TON of products on their website, with plenty of fun designs and colors to choose from. Be sure to head over and check them out. If you’re interested in getting a Buff, and you live in a place with a wide range of temperatures and seasons, get the Merino wool—you won’t regret it.
